Blackwood's Gin is made from "hand-harvested Shetland botanicals... in proportions that do not disturb the fragile habitat." Ingredients include Sea pink flowers, wild water mint, meadowsweet, and coriander. Because of some of the unusual, floral ingredients, we have opted to list Blackwood's as a modern gin. The gin is often bottled with the year noted, implying a variation in flavor from year to year (much like wine).
Blackwood's Distillery was founded in 2002 originally to make whisky. They were founded by a team of people to create a "small and passionate" company. Blackwood claims to use "sustainable harvesting programmes" developed by Highland Natural Products.
