Havana Club was founded by Jose Arechabala in 1878 and the distillery was nationalized in the communist revolution of 1959 (and the family fled to Spain). Today, the brand is owned jointly by the Cuban government and Pernod-Ricard.

A great dark rum which has been blended from rums sourced from Trinidad and Jamaica. Further ageing is done in Cognac casks which add fruitiness and spice. Ageing: Blend of Barbados 1 to 3 y.o; Jamaican Pot Still High Ester (10 to 15 y.o.); "Petites Eaux" aged rum, Ferrand technique. Final blending is into a wooden vat for 3 to 6 months in France.

One of the mainstays of the Plantation range, this has been distilled in Barbados in a combination of both double-column and copper pot stills. Tropical ageing was done for 3-4 years in ex-Bourbon casks before being transported and aged in Europe in ex-Cognac Ferrand casks for 1-2 years.
