Ron Santa Teresa, CA was founded in 1796 as Hacienda Santa Teresa and remains one of Venezuela's premier rums. Their self-proclaimed missions is to "add magic to the moment." All their rums are distilled from sugar cane according to traditional methods and aged in a combination of American oak and French limousin oak. They claim to have some rums aged as greatly as 80 years, which they use in their "super premium" blends.
Santa Teresa Claro Rum is a blend of rums "aged up to: 3 years (we have taken an average and listed it as 2) and developed specifically as a heavier rum suitable for cocktails such as the mojito and daiquiri.
In their 2009 review, the Beverage Testing Institute called it "interesting" mentioning a "eucalyptus honey accented fade."
