Bobby's Dry Gin 70cl
€44,99
Bobby's Gin is named for Jacobus "Bobby" Alfons, grandfather of Sebastiaan van Bokkel who founded the brand. The gin is made blends traditional London dry style botanicals (juniper, fennel, rose hip, coriander) with Indonesian spices (lemongrass, cloves, cubeb pepper, cinnamon). This strikes us a spicier profile against the traditional juniper-forward background. Even the bottle is meant to be a combination of East and West with a genever style bottle designed with Indonesian patterns. The gin is produced out of Herman Jansen in the Netherlands.
Green Spot - 70cl
€60,00
The "Spot" whiskeys are named for the tradition of the old merchants, who used to mark different casks with a daub or "spot" of colored paint to mark them. Green Spot Irish whiskey considers itself a "pot still whiskey." We take this to mean that it is made in traditional pot stills in batches rather than the more common continuous column still with a blend of malted and unmalted barley (the commonly understood definition of Irish Pot Still whiskey--compare with "single malts" which are all malted barley). The brand has been around since 1925 (according to the write-up at Irish...
Glendalough 13 year old - 70cl
€76,99
Glendalough 13yr Single Malt Irish whiskey is aged for what the distillers promise us is Ireland's lucky number: 13 years. They suggest looking for flavor notes of vanilla fudge, lemon citrus, and peach among others. Being a new distillery, the single malt is sourced from an unnamed Irish distiller (we would hazard a guess that it's Kilbeggan/Cooley), then given a final aging and bottling on site. Owing to the selection, finishing, and bottling, we list Glendalough as the producer. Glendalough 13yr Single Malt Irish whiskey was named "Best Irish Whiskey" in the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (in a...
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin 70cl
€48,95
Drumshanbo Gunpowder Gin presents in a turquoise blue bottle and promises oriental botanicals including "gunpowder tea." They describe gunpowder tea as a green tea included in a set of botanicals of juniper, orris, caraway, coriander, meadowsweet, cardamon, star anise, lemon, lime, and grapefruit. All of these strike us as traditional botanicals save for the tea and the emphasis on citrus, which reminds of Mediterranean styles of gin. (It might be easy to confuse "gunpowder" as a reference to "navy proof" or "gunpowder proof" usually around 114 proof; this gin is bottled at 86 proof.) The gin is named for the...

Egans Fortitude 70cl
€65,99Teeling Single Malt 70cl
€55,00
Teeling Single Malt Irish whiskey is a blend of aged single malt Irish whiskeys from lots acquired from another distillery. This is a common practice in the scotch whisky world and creates a "vatted malt" style of Irish whiskey. The aging is finished in a combination of wine casks, including sherry, port, madeira, burgundy, and cabarnet sauvignon. This is a remarkable adventure in finishing malt whiskey and they suggest looking for flavor notes of citrus, vanilla, and cloves among others. The whiskey doesn't carry an age statement (one might see it referred to as a NA or "no age" whiskey)...
Tyrconnell Single Malt 70cl 43%
€44,00
Tyrconnell was originally named for a racehorse who won at 100:1 odds Irish National Produce Stakes. The name is translated from Gaelic as "land of O'Donnell". It was at one time produced at the Watts Distillery but closed in 1925. It's a brand that has been given new life by the Cooley distillery. Tyrconnell single malt whiskey is the flagship expression from the reborn label. Cooley Distillery launched in 1987 after converting a potato ethanol plant on the Cooley Peninsula by John Teeling. Their stated aim is to revive historical brands and traditional distilling of Irish whiskey. Cooley purchased several...
