Slightly off-dry sherry. The wine is chestnut in colour. The nose displays nutty aromas with a hint of cold earl grey tea evident. The palate is initially quite dry but a rounded finish provides some respite. This sherry is a more ‘friendly’ example of Amontillado than the Antique version. While the antique release has lost all its sweetness with age this wine has not yet dried out to the fullest extent.
Fernando de Castilla Classic Manzanilla is a fortified wine produced by the Rey Fernando Castilla winery in the D.O. Jerez.
The winery is located in the centre of Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). It is a vintage winery and in the last few years, it has started producing young fortified wines – the Classic range – and old wines from the winery’s very old vintages - the Antique range.
Fernando de Castilla Classic Manzanilla comes from the Palomino Fino grape. The wine is fortified and aged in Sanlúcar de Barrameda so that it can be released to the market as a Manzanilla.
